One of the most long awaited/anticipated albums, Saul Williams finally makes an offering.  Amethyst Rock Star.  Remember the limits of Hip Hop, because after listening to this album they'll be blown away.  I don't even know what type of music to classify this as.  It contains elements of Rock, Rap, and Spoken Word.  Only the culture is evident Hip - Hop.  Even the amount of guest stars is original - zero.  The lyrics for this album are groundbreaking and drowned in afro centric interplanetary metaphors.  And for fans of his previous poetry albums, he includes many references.  The content is well diversified and showcases his eccentricities.  On "Robeson" he gives props to every cultures greatest minds (Nagasaki, nostrdamus, Hendrix, to name a few.  The live instruments that accompany Saul throughout the album sound as good as him.  Homegirl on the violin is even better live.  The opening track "LA LA LA" should show everyone why she's so dope.  "Omniamericans"  does the same for their guitar player.

"Pictures of a missing planet last seen in pursuit of an American dream, this fool actually thinks he can drive his Hummer on the moon blastin DMX off the soundtrack to a South Park Cartoon - Niggaz used to buy their family out in slavery, now we buy chains, links, smokes and drinks - their payin me to record this - even more if you hear it - somebody tell me what I should do with the money - yes dread tell me what you think I should do with the money - exactly how much will it cost to free mumia - what's he going to do with his freedom - talk on the radio - radio programming is just that - "Penny for a thought" "B-Boy be men" "What have you bought into how much will it cost to buy you out" buy into a reality that bought you" - Penny for a thought".

If that doesn't make you want to buy this album, you should buy it simply because you will need to hear it over and over just to understand the concepts.  After hearing this CD all other Mc's will have to ante to impress me creatively. The only problem with this album is the amount of songs.  WE WANT MORE!!!
