ThaFormula.com - What delayed your album "Aromatic" from dropping for so long?

Phil The Agony - Goodvibe had a distribution deal actually that kind of fell through, so my album didn't end up coming out on Goodvibe.  It came out on Vocab records.  I had it done a while ago, but it just wasn't ready for release at that time.

ThaFormula.com - So when the Good Vibe thing fell through, what did you do in the mean time?

Phil The Agony - I went on tour man.  I was touring with Xzibit for a couple of years.  I was doing shows and the Strong Arm Steady Mix Tapes, DVD, and group.  We just been doing that for the last 2 years and that's what's up.

ThaFormula.com - So how did you get involved with the whole Strong Arm Steady thing.  Were you involved since the beginning?

Phil The Agony - Yeah.  We created that just so we could have a platform to just display our music better.

ThaFormula.com - It took a minute, but the mixtapes seem to have really taken off for you guys?

Phil The Agony - Yeah, it took a while to build up the catalog, but we definitely got alot of shit out there.  We got like over 20 mixtapes out at this point. It's good because it goes directly to the streets.  You don't really got to wait for a record company or nobody to press your shit up.  You just press it up and get it out there to who you wanna get it to.  It's like one of the best forms of promotion.

ThaFormula.com - Did they start doing good for you guys right off the bat?

Phil The Agony - It served it's purpose right off the bat and it still does what it is supposed to do.

ThaFormula.com - Has the money been good from the tapes man?

Phil The Agony - It's lucrative a little bit, but not really that much money in it.  But it's cool man.  We do our thang.  But say we press up 5,000 copies, we are gonna give 4,000 away.  So we put 1,000 of them in stores.  It's more of a promotional tool.  Were not really looking at getting paid off of the mixtapes really like that.  When we put the album in stores everybody will be more familiar with what's going on.

ThaFormula.com - So when did you actually finish your "Aromatic" album up?

Phil The Agony - Shit, I finished the album last summer and put it out in November.  It did alright for me as an independent album.

ThaFormula.com - So what do you got lined up right now man?

Phil The Agony - Were finishing the Strong Arm Steady album right now.  Were probably gonna drop that early next.  It's called "Arms & Hammers."  It's a good look.  We got alot of joints recorded.  Were gonna do a few more tracks and drop it early next year.  It's sounding real good.

ThaFormula.com - How is the production looking?

Phil The Agony - We got Khalil doing alot of production.  We got Hi-Tek and alot of different cats. We just trying to spread Strong Arm Steady as a label and as a brand everywhere.  Every mixtape we put out had a definite effect on what we trying to do.

ThaFormula.com - I caught you on rap city the other day man.  How was it being in the booth and spittin'?

Phil The Agony - The booth was tight man.  It was a good look for us.  We just made a Strong Arm move and got on BET.  Being in the booth was a good look, but the vision is definitely beyond that.  We look forward to doing alot of things.

ThaFormula.com - So are you droppin' another solo album anytime soon?

Phil The Agony - Yeah, were gonna drop the Strong Arm Steady album and after that everybody is gonna drop solo albums.
