- REHAB in Los Angeles, CA / Saturday June 25th, 2005

Video: Clip 1 - Clip 2 - Clip 3 - Clip 4

Defari's people were out in force at R.E.H.A.B. to support Defari and his headlining performance. Before the night was over, Phil Da Agony, Tash of Tha Liks, Evidence of Dilated People's and Sway (Wake-Up Show/MTV) would bless the stage and get the crowd ready for the man of the night, Defari.

The DJ's sparked the night off right. Zulu King DJ Lord Ron and thaformula.Com's DJ Hectik spun classics and new school bangers as the near capacity crowd filed in and the gamers at ThaFormula's mobile gaming booth competed in an NBA Live tournament.

First up to hit the stage were some local artists who have been putting in work all around LA. Willmatic and DJ Lord Ron performed their new ill single "BX to LA Connect Part 1 & Part 2."

Before any of the Likwit crew swarmed the stage, local MC's warmed it up with their eyes on the prize of $100.00 cash and a Championship belt. Fidel Rodriguez (Divine Forces Radio) MC'd the event and announced the King Of Kings MC battle Vol. 1. When he asked if there were any MC's in the house, 30+ MC's rushed the stage and set the night off.

With so many MC's waiting to take their turns, the cuts were brutal. One verse, either you were ill or you were back in the crowd as a spectator, if the crowd wasn't feeling you, take a seat. MC's from all over LA came out, Project Blowed was represented, and MC's from Riverside, LA, San Bernardino, and Watts were also up in the spot.

When the final round concluded MC "I Suppose" reigned supreme.

One more artist grabbed the mic before Phil stormed the stage, Taquan of Soul Elevation came out and dropped a couple rhymes. The crowd was feelin' it and gave him love, but they were ready for Phil Da Agony.

Despite losing power to the turntables seconds before he could drop his first verse Phil and his surprise guest Tash killed their performance. When the power cut out Tash stepped center stage and rhymed, no mic, no music just him vibin' with the crowd in a truly classic moment. Once the power was back on Phil had the crowd spitting right along with him as he laced them with some of his Likwit rhymes, Strong Arm Steady rhymes and of course his own personal staples.

Defari opened up his set with brand new material ("The Business") from his upcoming album "Street Music" and kept it moving right into his verse from Dr Dre's 2001 album "L.A. Niggaz" that was obviously a crowd favorite. You'd be hard pressed to see another MC rep their city harder than Defari, watching him in L.A. is like watching Slum Village or Eminem in Detroit. Defari shows his hood love and they give it right back. Defari debuted another song off "Street Music" that repped his city like no other joint he's dropped, "Whoever said that the West was dead, must have got off the plane and got socked in the head / whoever said that the West was anything less than fresh get kicked in the chest." After that rhyme the crowd was completely behind him, he could have rhymed anything and they would have rode for him.

Next up was some material from his collaboration with DJ Babu, The Likwit Junkies ("One More Day" / "Ghetto") and tracks from his last solo album "Odds and Evens" ("Inner City"/"Cold Pieces"). Defari welcomed 1/3 of his Dilated family to the mic next when Evidence joined him on "Los Angelinos" and continued to give the fans more classic LA material that got them so hype heads were slamming and moshing in the front row just 2 feet from the Likwit MC. After having rocked a jam packed, non-stop 1-hour plus set, Defari left the stage the champion of LA., don't be surprised if his jersey is hanging from R.E.H.A.B.S rafters.
