- REHAB in Los Angeles, CA / Saturday April 30th, 2005

Video: Clip 1 - Clip 2 - Clip 3 - Clip 4

After a rare West Coast performance almost 2 months ago that left the crowd eager for more, Cormega made a return trip out West and once again served up a dose of Queensbridge to everyone in the building.

As the line outside grew the anticipation for Mega's much talked about performance grew. The crowd was kept busy outside with ThaFormula's famous mobile gaming booth where gamers got tried to get their game right in time for the next Madden and NBA live tournaments.

Before Cormega would take the stage, a line-up of LA veteran DJ's and Mc's took the stage to warm up the crowd. DJ Lord Ron (Thaformula/Zulu Nation) and DJ Hectik (who would also rhyme in the open mic session later) set the evening off with 2 DJ sets. DJ Lord Ron spun that classic Boom-Bap and Hectik spun a little bit of everything and laced every track with his ill scratching.

Hosted by (and featuring) Willmatic (Last Kind/Classic Team) the open mic session was up next and MC's representing many styles from gangster to backpacker went line for line trying to make a name for themselves over instrumentals provided by DJ Lord Ron. Mc's beware, if you're gonna step up to the mic, have skillz or you're gonna get booed off the stage like a couple heads did, you gotta come correct. Open mic regular Free Speech (Classic Team) once again held the crowd down with a couple nice rhymes, but heads were in for a real surprise when Sunz of Man came through and MC Prodigal Sun took the mic for three verses and set the tone for another eventful show.

On the heels of their upcoming performance at the Coachella Music Festival, Zion I took the stage and dropped a couple of their classics alongside joints from their new album, "True & Livin'."

Divine Forces Radio (DFR), community leader and host for the night, Fidel Rodriguez came out next to hype the crowd for Cormega. Despite having suffered a loss in his family earlier that day, after his conversation with Cormega in-studio on his show the night before about issues that plague the youth and our inner cities Fidel felt strongly enough about Cormega and his fans and pulled through his tragedy and came out to show his support. He also brought along DFR DJ’s Orator and Counterstryke (Cal-Cutters) who were the last to take the stage before Cormega would make his return to a Cali stage.

As Cormega's DJ Biz stepped behind the tables the crowd knew what time it was and began chanting "Mega, Mega, Mega." Just as he did on his last visit, Cormega made his way through the sea of fans eager for him to take the stage, dapping up each and every fan he could on the way.

Mega's connection with LA was once again incredible. He took his time and interacted with the crowd throughout the night and shared the mic with the front row letting them rhyme along line for line with him. He announced that he had brought all the tracks with him this time, and asked what LA want to hear, and began taking requests. Wanting to give LA something different, DJ Biz stopped the music and Cormega told everyone he wanted to he wanted to rock over somebody else's beat. With a slew of records surrounding him (the venue was REHAB RECORDS) he started looking for a beat to rhyme to. Suggestions were thrown from every angle of the crowd and Cormega finally decided that he wanted to rhyme over "Runnin" from The Game. Not able to find the instrumental on the wall of records he started looking again when suddenly "Runnin" began booming from the speakers. REHAB Records resident Happa found the record and began playing it from a set of tables on the other side of the store and Mega immediately launched into his rhymes. At on point during the show, a fan threw his LA Dodger hat on stage and Mega picked it up and rocked to show his love for LA.

By the time mega had dropped his last line of the night he had dropped freestyles, told some stories, dropped acapella rhymes, and over a dozen of his classics and once again gave LA another incredible show that many in attendance said was the best they had ever seen.
